When I Was Young.

When I was young, I didn't care
I drove all love away
My only thought was for myself
As I went my selfish way.

I passed them by-those loves of mine
Their hurt I couldn't see
I didn't think the pain I caused
Would return someday to me.

On through the years, things stayed the same
Life seemed to go so well
Then slowly I learned no one was there
To catch me as I fell.

Loneliness then touched me
As I thought of songs that were never sung.
But at last there's someone to help me forget
All those yesterdays when I was young.

How many of us, when we look back on our lives
regret so many of the years?
We can't change the past, no matter how much we wish
we could. But we can go forward and find peace
in our hearts and souls. Look back, not with sadness
but with the knowledge that you can
now make a difference.
