I Walk The Line

I've walked the line for many years
No matter what people say
It's served me faithfully all this time
And I intend to keep it that way.

Others may beckon with their smiles
But I never let them tempt me.
I always keep a close watch on my heart
And I'm just where I want to be.

This line I walk is straight and narrow
But it's easy for me to follow through.
The tie that binds holds me in it's grip
And I owe it to the love I get from you.

You're on my mind both day and night
My dreams assure me you are mine.
I treasure the happiness you bring to my world.
Because of you, I Walk The Line.

The song "I Walk The Line" has been around for a long time
and inspired this poem. It applies to all walks of life,
from far distant shores in a hostile environment to happenings
in our lives. If we put our minds to it, walking the line
is not an impossible task.
