Spirit In The Tree

He stands alone under the beautiful tree
Marveling how it's grown so big
Remembering back when she planted it
When he laughed and said "why, it's just a twig".

But she nourished it and cared for it
And gave it so much of her love.
Each day she would kneel beside it
Praying for it's growth to the Heaven's above.

Little animals would gather around her
For her heart was so open and true.
She cared so much for God's creatures
And it seemed somehow they all knew.

Then she was needed to go live in Heaven
While he was out working one day.
He found her with a peaceful smile on her face
And he knew her soul had been called away.

She had promised she would always be there
With him throughout all eternity.
Now he knows her spirit is watching over him
From the branches of her beautiful tree.
