And So To Dream

And so to float away in dreams
Back to days long past
If only it was possible
To make those memories last.

The peacefulness of my surroundings
Help me to drift away
To a time and place across the sea
And the happiness of yesterday

The thoughts running through my mind
Are the saddest words I know
I hear them over and over again
Saying "If only it was so".

Now as I rest here quietly
Basking in the sun's golden beam
With my thoughts a million miles away
I close my eyes, and so to dream.
