The Dreamer
I want to take this opportunity,
To thank you all so much,
This great honor you have given me,
Makes me pleased as punch.
I never thought the day would come,
I'd be honored in this way,
Though it's always been my dream, of course,
To become MISS U. S. A.
The tears I weep are tears of joy,
I'm really overcome,
My humility and modesty,
Have stricken my tongue numb.
A question from the audience?
What's the secret of my success?
Oh dear ... Weight Watchers, I suppose,
Though I am quite temptationless.
Who am I wearing? Monsieur K-Mart,
An original design,
Note how the color does become me,
And how it fits so fine.
How do I ever thank thee?
Ah, let me count the ways,
To the depth and breadth and height,
My soul can reach this day.
I thank my Mother and my Father,
And my precious dog and cat,
Whose support and love sustained me,
And who have kept me right on track.
I thank the judges for their vote,
Indeed, they've been too kind,
My gratitude for their attitude,
And for letting my star shine.
Your applause is overwhelming,
You really should desist,
I don't deserve this golden crown,
But I'll accept ... since you insist!
Written especially for us by our very dear friend
