Rountuit
I once had a little round piece of wood
Engraved with the words "rountuit".
When I had chores to do, I would hold it
And say "I'll soon get around to it".
My work sadly went lacking each day
I put off doing the things that I should.
But I would cheerfully tell myself
It's the fault of that round piece of wood.
The dishwasher cried out to be used
And the floor was a total disgrace.
Laundry piled up in every corner
And dust motes stared me in the face.
My little doggie got so disgusted
That one day when I peeked out at the sun.
Out the door he dashed with frantic speed
Wagging his tail as away he did run.
Fishing sounds so much better
Than doing a boring household chore.
So I'll take my little rod and reel
And rest on a rock at the lake shore.
I knew at last I must do something
Somehow I had to work through it.
So I picked up my little round piece of wood
And said, "Oh heck. I'll get a rountuit".

There really is an item as described in this poem. They were
very popular at one time and sold in every gift store. And for
those who would rather loll around than get up and do chores,
it was the ideal thing to have at hand. At the very least it brought
a lot of laughs.
