Precious Memories

My mind tells me I'm over you
But my soul keeps saying no.
For tonight you slipped back into my thoughts
And my heart refused to let you go.

The memories keep coming back to claim me
Making me remember the happy times we shared.
The times when you kept me close to your heart
And whispered so softly how you cared.

The laughter that we shared together
The pleasure in each other's company.
The joy we found in every little thing
This was where we'd always want to be.

Though anger grew quickly between us
Our love remains embedded in my heart.
And sometimes in the night my memories come
To soothe me though we're many miles apart.

Oh yes, those precious memories.

Our memories are an embedded part of us and will
remain with us for our entire lives.
Though they may fade in time, they are still there,
and may appear at times as if they happened just yesterday.
It is good to remember, but we must also
be able to move forward and let the
past remain in our memories.
