Ok To Give Up

As I stand and watch you lying there
I know your time is nearing now.
You're holding on for worrying about us
But honey, we will make it somehow.

You were always there for me
Whenever I needed someone.
When my world had turned upside down
And I had no place else to run.

We had so much time together
We shared laughter and often tears.
Now your soul will live within my heart
Beside memories of our many years.

Your kindness touched many others
You lived your life your own way.
Sharing your love where it was needed
Never once would you turn away.

Though my heart is aching so deeply
And my tears are flowing like rain.
My little brother it's ok to give up now
Look to the sunshine, go away from the pain.

It's such a deep heartache when you lose someone so very close.
The only thing you can do is smile for them in their last moments
and keep your chin up. Be there for them and know
they will live on in your heart.
Time is a wonderful healer and the sorrow will ease,
though it will never go away.
My precious little brother Tom meant all the world to me and
I know that I will miss him for the rest of my life,
however long that may be.
