Long Skirts

Long skirts are a standard
On any England street
You don't see them often in America
Though they really do look sweet.

They wear them in the winter time
With a warm scarf to cover their hair
They wear them in the summer time
With sandals which makes them so fair.

It doesn't matter the age of the person
For long skirts are the standard thing.
Even if you're old as we are.
You can still get in the swing.

A special occasion really doesn't matter
For they'll always be right in style.
You can feel either dressy or casual
And comfortable all the while.

So make sure there's long skirts in your closet
And keep them ever so handy.
For when you don them and flounce down the street
You will always look so dandy.

Betty and I did actually visit Bembridge on the Isle of Wight on
her very first trip here. In fact we toured the whole Island.
It is a beautiful place and the memory of that trip will
remain forever in our hearts.
It was during a later visit that Betty noticed many of our women
wear long skirts... and she liked them. So off we went to
the stores to treat ourselves to a long skirt each.
In fact we wore them on an evening out to friends for drinks.
The long skirts made two very senior citizens feel like
young and glamorous chicks once again.

Such wonderful memories.
And as a very dear friend of ours once said
"Nobody can ever take away your memories".
