Long Awaited Day

That much awaited day has arrived
And your long journey home has begun.
The plane zooms along the runway
Headed towards the bright evening sun.

Hearts are anxiously waiting
As that Boeing climbs high into the sky.
Its massive jet engines roaring
As way above the clouds it will fly.

Excitement is overflowing
Hearts become happy and light.
Upwards and onwards the plane travels
As it fly's through the long dark night.

The morning light is breaking
As the Boeing 777 begins to descend.
It taxi's into Gatwick Airport
Your long journey at last at an end.

Your family anxiously wait to greet you
On this long awaited day
There will be many hugs and kisses
As we head for home and Bracklesham Bay.

My Journey Home

My journey home is beginning
And I can picture in my mind's eye.
My family waiting there for me
As my plane descends from the sky.

The wait has been so much longer this time
The months so lonely and bleak.
With only the walls to hear me
As in solitude do I often speak.

In just a few hours I'll be there
And as I walk through that terminal door
My loved ones will be there waiting
To fold me in their loving arms once more.

Together we'll head back to our home
There in Bracklesham Bay.
Where we'll join again as a family
On this long awaited precious day.
