Like A Butterfly
I once was like a butterfly
Flitting from place to place.
Never stopping long enough
To know another's face.
I traveled near and traveled far
And toured this country wide.
I saw the sunset on desert sands
And waded the incoming tide.
At times I was touched with shivering cold
Often with blistering heat.
And the nectar I tasted on my trips
Was sometimes so bittersweet.
Many times I've wished that I could
Go back and change things again
But the past is over and done with
As the storm clouds that come with the rain.
Now I float on fresh, sweet scented air
And touch love with a gossamer wing.
The happiness I feel within my heart
Lifts me and makes my soul sing.

Each of us at one time or another in our lives has the
characteristic of a butterfly. Where we go with it and what we do
with it is our choice. We can fly through the world sensing all the
love and beauty around us, or we can remain in our cocoons,
waiting endlessly for the beauty to emerge.
