Isle of Wight

You hugged me and said "hey, you"
"We're on the Isle of Wight".
I hugged you back and smiling, said
"I do believe you're right".

We drove to the ferry in the early morn
And oh, what a glorious ride.
We knew we'd soon be on the Isle of my dreams
Walking happily side by side.

We travelled the island from end to end
The early sun was wonderfully bright.
We visited quaint villages and rolling hills
Raptly gazing at them in the morning light.

Then a mist surrounded us in early afternoon
And a light rain came in from the sea.
So we headed to another little village
Where we stopped in for English scones and tea.

All too soon our visit was over
We headed for the ferry in the rain.
And we agreed that in the late summer
Isle of Wight would greet us again.
