One Wrong Decision

The lady sits quietly pondering
Over the irreversible decision she once made.
The faded picture locked in her diary
Won't allow the haunting memory to fade.

The secret living within her heart
Is one she cannot ever share.
She must always hide her tears and loneliness
And the pain she finds so hard to bear.

Her tears begin to flow freely
As she remembers back to that fateful day.
If she could be given just one chance
To explain why she had to give him away.

She hopes he knows she still loves him
And deeply regrets the day she said goodbye
Her heart cries out for him to forgive her
And understand the reasons why.

She keeps her old diary hidden away
Because it holds a secret only she can know.
Her son is being raised by someone else
Due to one wrong decision she made years ago

There is no bigger heartache for any mother than to be parted
from her child. There can be many different reasons
and some are often way beyond their control.
We dedicate this poem to all the "Lonely Mothers"
who silently cry inside.
