Cottage Of Love
Down at the corner of no-man's land
A quaint little cottage stands bare.
It seems so forlorn and forsaken
Because lovers no longer live there.
It's bright, cheerful rooms are so empty
The fireplace is now standing cold.
The walls rebound with silence
Where once laughter echoed so bold.
They loved each other so deeply
When they moved there on that first day
They laughed through many happy hours
But then his country called him away.
She waited with hope for his return
When they would be together once more.
Each day she whispered a prayer for him
But then, that fateful knock on her door.
The years passed by so slowly
She kept his love in her heart.
Waiting to be joined in Heaven
Never again would they part.
So this cottage now stands so empty
Where once it was filled with love.
But sometimes at night a light shines on it
As if by lovers remembering from above.

This poem is just one of many stories depicting the tragedies of war.
So many wonderful lives were lost or destroyed by the senseless
acts of this world. Our only hope is to pray for peace and unity
among all mankind.
