Christmases Past

As I sit here quietly pondering
On happy Christmases past.
I really cannot believe
How the years have gone by so fast.

I remember our very first Christmas
Back in the year of two thousand and five.
The joy of just being together
Brought the spirit of the season alive.

The fun we had Christmas shopping
Visiting almost every single store.
How we laughed as we headed for home
Our arms filled with gifts galore.

The evenings we spent contentedly
Gift wrapping all the presents for the tree.
Sharing such wonderful moments
Is how every Christmas should be.

Oh, those magical Christmas mornings
When we each took it in turn to open a gift.
The warmth of the love that engulfed us
Sure gave the heart a lift.

The highlight was the Christmas dinner
Prepared and cooked by both our fair hands.
We like to think we did justice
To the traditions of both our home lands.

In the end age and distance beat us
And our celebrating together did not last.
Now all we have is happy memories
Of three very special Christmases past.

We would like to wish all our wonderful friends a very
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Christmas holds a lot of very happy memories for us and we
believe this poem is a tribute to those very special times.
