In Your Back Yard

You searched for love all over the world
At times your search seemed very hard.
But you never knew what you were looking for
Was right here in your own back yard.

Your eyes looked past me without seeing
Your ears couldn't hear my silent plea.
Your heart stayed empty without knowing
The one patiently waiting was me.

The years passed by, still I waited
And yearned with hope in my heart.
That one day you'd stop and really see me
Then join with me, never more to be apart.

Then one day when despair brought you home again
You looked up and your eyes touched my soul.
You knew that now your search was over
And my love would at last make you whole.
