I saw a lovely little bird
Outside my window last night.
He sang to me so sweetly
Before he finally took flight.

His song then became soft words
He thought that I surely should hear.
They told of great happiness in store
In the soon blossoming new year.

He said please don't be frightened
Of your up-coming plane ride.
For soon your dearest friend
Will be walking by your side.

Your spirits will merge closely
Your souls will become as one.
You'll venture hand in hand on life's road
Always brightly shining in the sun.

He left these wondrous words with me
Before he then flitted away.
"I'll always be here with you,
To comfort you each and every day".

I wonder if it was really an angel
In the disguise of a sweet little bird?
Who came to my window to reassure me
In answer to the prayer that was heard?
